I am directly to the left of President Obama. This photo was taken at the 2015 White House Student Film Festival, where G.I.V.E.'s entry "The Impact of G.I.V.E." won honorable mention
March 20th was one of the greatest days of my life. The President's smile lit up the room and his positive energy was contagious. The White House Student Film Festival has given me hope that my generation is doing everything we can to make the world a better place. The Festival has also given me a newfound responsability: to be grateful.
The youngest and cutest winner, Noah, said "Look closely. If you don't stop to look around, you're going to miss it," (As stated in his award winning short film).
Life moves pretty fast. It is up to us to stop, look around and say "Thank you."
GIVE has taken me to the White House, the TEDx stage, my pen pal Suma in Bangalore, India, and across the world. But the journey that I am most grateful for, is the one I least expected. GIVE has taken me on a journey to myself. I have found Daniella, by getting lost in the service to others. I am still learning how to embody Noah's wise words but, I have learned the following in the process:
Life moves fast. Look closely. Say "Thank you."
